Junk Kouture Judge 2015

EEEEEK. To say I am super excited to be writing this post would be an understatement. If you have followed my blog from the very beginning you would know that I am literally Junk Kouture's biggest fan. Some of you probably know what this is all about but for those of you who don't, Junk Kouture is a national competition for second level students. It challenges teenagers to create high-end wearable fashion from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin. Junk Kouture aims to gnite passion in teenagers while at the same time subtly educating them about the importance of recycling and reusing waste. Over the last four years, I have personally seen the competition grow. I entered myself when I was in transition as part of a group ad when I was in fifth year as a solo entry. The competition gave me so much confidence as well as opportunities. Most of all the competition showed me that I was determined to work in the fashion industry in whatever shape or form.

I have attended the shows every year since I entered and have quite a few blog posts about them. When the JK team asked me to join the judging panel as a student judge this year I couldn't contain my excitement. I obviously jumped at the opportunity and said yes immediately! We had such a fun day shooting in Dublin before christmas with the other student Judges as well as the main panelists and the stunning Vogue Williams. I will be judging at the Eastern Semi Final In the Helix, Dublin on the 6th of March.  I'll also be attending my local regional show in UCH, Limerick -
If you're at either show be sure to say hello!

Have you entered JK? Are you heading to the shows?
