DIY OMBRE SHORTS:

I have been lusting over ombre, studded, ripped shorts for so long now. Every time I see a pair for sale they are ridiculously expensive. On some online shops they can be up to $100. I'm sorry but I just can't understand that! I'm the type of person that lives for a bargain and I just couldn't justify the price! My only solution was 'I'll have to do it myself' and it turned out to be surprisingly easy!

 What You Need:

-Milton / Bleach.
-Shorts :
(I got mine in Primark for €3 last summer and have worn them plenty.)
-Gloves.
- Sharp Knife (with teeth not a smooth blade)
-Spray bottle.
( no you do not need frizz ease, that just happened to be the only spray bottle I had)

Step 1:Spray.

-Take the shorts outside. You really don't want to be doing this on your kitchen table!
-Make sure and put on your gloves. This stops your hands smelling like bleach for the rest of the day and protects those hands of yours!
-Pour Milton into your spray bottle. I find this the least wasteful method and most effective.
-Concentrate your sprays towards the bottom of the shorts and spray lighter towards the top so the colour gradually fades from dark to eventually white!

Step 2: Rinse.

-Leave the shorts in a safe place for a while. I hung mine up for about half an hour so my dogs wouldn't run away with them!
- Rinse the shorts in an old sink if you have one. I'm such a freak when it comes to Milton I just don't like it in the house!

 Step 3: Hang out.

-Hang your shorts out to dry and wait patiently (I am terrible at this part)
-when the shorts are almost dry but still a little bit damp you're ready to move onto the next step!

Step 4: Personalize.

-While the shorts are damp it is really easy to give them that worn away look.
I used a sharp knife with teeth but a brilo pad or something coarse like that will also work!
Just keep scratching over the surface and viola!
-I also added some studs to finish them off!

The Finished Product:

What do you think? Do you find this useful? Are you dreaming of these shorts too?
Let me know what you think,
or if you have any questions comment bellow!

  5. Such a good idea! It's so annoying how for certain trends that shops make the products so expensive, this is such a cheap alternative AND you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself! They look great, and if I get round to doing my own I'll use your method :) xx
